House breaking my one year old pekingese/shih-tzu mix?
Okay.. so we have had our one year old pekingese/shih-tzu dog for about 7 months, and before we got him, he was with a family that never potty trained him correctly. When we first got him, he had never even went potty outside. So now he is still not fully housebroken; he shows no sign that he needs to actually go outside. It's very frustrating. I think part of the reason is because we aren't feeding him on a schedule, its just when he eats, he eats. And adding to all of this, we are getting a 3 month old chocolate lab in a few days, and I don't want to screw up like we did with our other dog. So can you give any tips? And tell me how to start scheduling eating and potty outside? I think if we get on the right track with our new dog, our other dog will follow, do you think it will work? Thanks so much!

Yes, I know that we should of sorted these problems beforehand, but things haven't been so easy. So please, do not answer if your going to be rude.
Why didn't you think of sorting out these problems 7 months ago?
Feed him on schedule [2-3 meals a day], take the water up at night [8-9 o'clock, depending on when you retire]; and take the dog on regular walks.
Praise when he goes to the bathroom outside and rush him outside when you catch him in the act.
It's not that difficult.

You've had 7 months to spend with this dog on potty training and you can't even recognize the obvious hints of needing to potty.
You've had 7 months without any luck on your first dog, what makes you think the second one will be any better?
