Does anyone know how I make a print of a painting?
I have some oil paitings that I want to print into those glossy prints that you can buy in the shops. How do I do this? What machine do I need to buy? I realise it won't be cheap! But what machine will scan the image from my painting then print it out on glossy paper? And look good enough to sell commercially?
Making copies of prints (photos, painting, etc.) is pretty standard thing. You just take a picture of it in flat lighting. The easiest is to go out to the backyard in over cast day and lean the picture again the wall then take a picture using a high res camera (at least 6 MP digital SLR). Use a tripod for rock stead image.
No matter how hard you try the image will not be square so correct that in photoshop. Print the image using epson's top printers - like r1800, 2400, 3800, etc. (pigment printers last super long - enough to be sold as archival or museum quality). I have one and the colors are beautiful.
But be warned that getting completely accurate color will be close to impossible. Depending on the camera and printer some colors will be slightly off and other will be weaker or stronger.
