How can you find out the Value of really old books?
I have a few really old, possibly rare and out of print books and magazines. How can I find out their worth?
I have tried looking on Ebay and Amazon, but I cant find anything specific on certain titles!
Please Help!
Here are a few items that I have:
- Chatalaine Magazine dated 1934
-Mermaidens, A sea story for girls by Sarah Tytler (not exactly sure of the year, but judging by the binding, I am assuming late 1800's)
-How it came about by Maja Spencer; Harvard series, Library edition 1888
-Marguerite's Heritage or Love after marriage by Mrs Georgie Sheldon, 1892
-The old homestead by Denman Thompson 1889
I also have quite a few dated early 1940's! Any idea's would help!

You can contact book appraisers like Bauman http://www.baumanrarebooks.com/ to see what their valuation would be.
You could also search places like ABE Books http://www.abebooks.com/servlet/SearchEntry which deal with used, rare and out-of-print books. Sometimes you will find the particular edition/copy you have is being sold by someone else and you will see the price one or more sellers is putting on the item. For instance, I found two copies of The Old Homestead from 1889; one for $10 one for $25. (However, you will be able to put in more exact details for your search.)
