Living In Manchester's Northern Quarter
Manchester in the UK is a vibrant, lively, multi-national city offering opportunity, entertainment and excitement to visitors and residents alike. One of the most popular areas, especially for nightlife, is the Northern Quarter, situated to too far from Piccadilly train station.
The Northern Quarter offers modern residential property, a thriving music, bar and nightclub scene and much, much more. In terms of places to live the Northern Quarter offers many options. As the Northern Quarter continues to be redeveloped, many of the old warehouses and buildings are being converted into residential properties. Many of these are located in historical and interesting buildings. For example, buildings on Dale Street and Newton Street have been converted to provide open plan 'loft' style apartments. These are contemporary homes in historical buildings giving easy access to the Northern Quarter and the rest of Manchester city centre.
In addition to conversions of historical buildings, there are several new developments already built and being built, providing ultra modern living in the heart of the city. Prices for property in the Northern Quarter vary a lot depending on the size and type of property.Contacting a Manchester city centre estate agentoffering property for sale in the Northern Quarter is your best bet and there are several companies offering these services. If you're not in a position to buy then many of these types of properties are available to rent too.
Amenities in the Northern Quarter are plentiful. The area itself is very close to the train station and to bus station at Piccadilly Gardens. There are many shops such as newsagents, supermarkets and the like and, as has been said, the Northern Quarter is home to a thriving night life, offering venues to suit any taste.
The Northern Quarter is known as the creative quarter of Manchester and is home to fashion designers, art galleries, creative agencies and a host of 'quirky' shops selling 'out of the ordinary' products. It has an almost Bohemian feel to it and as such is populated by a young and active group of people.
Popular bars include Lammar's, a tribute to legendary Manchester drag queen Foo Foo Lammar, Odd Bar which features regular live music and a Bohemian decor and the Cuba Cafe, a Cuban-themed bar that does midweek salsa dancing lessons.
For those more partial to a traditional pub than a bar, there are plenty of options too, including The Wheatsheaf, a very traditional pub with darts and other bar games, and The English Lounge, providing leather sofas, booklined shelves and a relaxed, very 'English' atmosphere.
There are many places to eat out in the Northern Quarter offering a variety of different, multi-national cuisines. Walrus offers Japanese food, Bem Brasil, as the name suggests, serves up traditional Brazilian Churrascaria dining, Glamorous Chinese is a huge, 600-seater Chinese restaurant and Simple is a New York style venue offering steaks, salads, burgers and BBQ foods. Whatever your taste, the Northern Quarter has something to offer.
As a place to live, shop and be entertained, the Northern Quarter has everything. If you're looking to live in Manchester city centre, it is well worth a look. ~
