I bought some Latex paints in Home Depot, do you think they are good for painting abstracts on canvas?
I have used commercial latex paints (from the can) on canvas, also on walls in mural art. They actually work very well. Drying time is about the same as acrylic tube colors. Probably the biggest difference is that the colors are not as "pure", or intense as, tube colors. They are certainly less expensive. Make sure your canvas is primed. Also, latex paint dries Several!!! shades darker than when it is wet, a good idea is to dab a little on paper and let it dry or hit it with a blow dryer (not too close or too hot) for about 30 seconds, that way you can see the true color. You can thin it with several different products to make a glaze or slow drying time, or you can really glom it straight from the can to get some texture.
